CAMPUS AND AREA MINISTRIES
THE TUCKER FOUNDATION
Founded in 1951 to "further the moral and spiritual work of Dartmouth College," the William Jewett Tucker Foundation is Dartmouth's center for service, spirituality and social justice. The Tucker Foundation's Office of Religious and Spiritual Life coordinates and facilitates over 25 campus ministry organizations, as well as supporting directly a variety of Multi-Faith programs and campus religious services. Tucker also offers a variety of opportunities to serve the local community, fellowships and internships for term-long community service experiences, alternative break service trips, and school outreach programs in both faith-based and secular programs.
ACTIVITIES
Weekly Ecumenical Christian Chapel Services - A brief, thoughtful campus service in the Christian tradition led by Chaplain Richard Crocker and Assistant Chaplain Kurt Nelson weekly, in the fall term at 5:30pm on Sundays in Rollins Chapel.
Weekly Meetings of the student Multi-Faith Council. - Gatherings of a religiously diverse group of Dartmouth students engaged in ongoing dialogue on manners of faith, religion, spirituality and religious pluralism. MFC plans and hosts interfaith events and conversations open to the entire campus.
Faith in Action Alternative Spring Break Trip – An inter-faith alternative spring break trip examining homelessness in San Francisco and themes of service and social justice with a group of religiously diverse Dartmouth students.
Interfaith Living and Learning Community – 11 residents in Ripley Hall devoted to inter-religious community, conversation and learning.
Hillel Jewish Student Group, al-Nur Muslim Student Association, Morning Glory Christian Fellowship and the United Campus Ministries.
As well as community service and service learning experiences too numerous to outline.
STAFF
Richard Crocker
Richard Crocker is the Dean of the Tucker Foundation, as well as the Chaplain of Dartmouth College. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a licensed pastoral psychotherapist.
Kurt Nelson
Kurt Nelson began his work at the Tucker Foundation in the fall of 2007 as Multi-Faith Program Advisor, and is now Dartmouth's Assistant Chaplain. He is a Lutheran, a graduate of St. Olaf College and Yale Divinity School.
Dawood Yasin
Dawood Yasin is the Muslim Life and Service Trips Coordinator at the Tucker Foundation. In his role Dawood provides spiritual and religious support, offers educational seminars, and leads congregational prayers for Muslim students at Dartmouth College and residents of the greater Hanover area.
Rabbi Edward Boraz
Rabbi Edward Boraz is the Rabbi and Executive Director of Dartmouth College Hillel, Rabbi of the Upper Valley Jewish Community, and Associate Chaplain of Dartmouth College. He has degrees from Loyola University and Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion.
Reena Goldthree
Reena Goldthree is advisor to Morning Glory Community Fellowship, a student-led interdenominational worship in the African American church tradition. Reena is an instructor in African and African American Studies with a Ph.D. pending from Duke University.
